Her early successes in the performing arts, that is now known as Maureen O'Hara, would certainly qualify her to being in the "child prodigy" category. The traits she displayed were normal for a child born in Ireland, surrounded by gifted parents and a loving, supportive family. Maureen entered this loving haven within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th, 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons' mom, Lilburn, was an contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin business, and held shares of the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer club. Maureen FitzSimons is the 2nd daughter from Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out the wonderful family. Maureen was a fan of rough and sports as a kid and excelled in sports. This interest was combined with an unnatural talent for performing. She was awarded nearly all Feis Award for Theatre and Drama which her nation had to offer. Her acceptance at the Abbey Theater by age 14, and she was able to fulfill her goals of opera as well as classical theater and singing.
